What is she doing that I'm not?

Pin It I lost 1.4lbs this week.  Not bad, but considering last week, not great.  Hopefully this week will be better.  I followed plan 100% this week, but am likely (I hope) still paying for last week's misbehaving.

So this lady WW this morning was celebrating having lost 125lbs!!! Woohoo for her!!!  So exciting.  The leader asked her how long it's taken her...she joined at the end of APRIL...of THIS year!  She is averaging almost 16lbs per month!  That's almost 4lbs per week!!  What in the world am I doing wrong???  She did start out a bit heavier than me, but not THAT much.  I've been working at this nearly 15 months and have lost 92lbs.  I am averaging 1.4lbs per week now.  *sigh* I am happy for her and part of me wants to know her secret, but another part of me knows that 4 pounds per week cannot be a healthy rate of loss - at least not one that can be maintained (my head knows this is true, but my heart still wants to be losing more than stupid 1.4lbs per week!).  WW's healthy guidelines say that a loss of 0.5-1.5lbs per week is healthy.  I guess I'm right in that healthy range.  It just frustrates me.  It's been so long since I've had a loss over 2lbs and certainly I haven't seen a 3-4lb loss in probably over a year...I sure would like to see 3lbs next week though...it'd be nice to reach 95lbs at my first 2011 weigh in.

I'm off to make a dessert for tonight.  I may post pics and recipe later if all goes well.

Happy New Year!!!

You are doing GREAT! Everyone is different. We lose weight at a different rate. You've made incredible progress and you should focus on that. Don't start comparing. Where does it stop? You are you. That is ALL that matters.

My husband and I started in June of this year. He's lost just over 90, I've lost 40. Of course, he is MUCH better about sticking to a healthy diet than I am. But I kick his ass when it comes to working out. :)

I'm not a fast weight loser either. I'm starting year 3 and still can't seem to hit that elusive 70 pounds. So I understand how you feel. (And for the record, I'm jealous of YOUR 90+ pounds!)

But slow and steady confirms a new life style, not just a diet. It gives your body time to adjust, your blood sugars, cholesterol, and skin can all change slowly so your body doesn't think you are sick- it makes a lasting change. And it gives your body more time to shrink back up.

That's the truth I'm holding on to as I start year 3!
