Shopping, shopping, shopping...

Pin It So I had a good week overall.  Work was busy, but I like it that way.  Went to the new Bath and Body Works store at Mic Mac Mall on Thursday night with my friend Cheryl.  After we finished there, she convinced me to go into Ricki's - I protested, telling her nothing there would fit me (they do NOT have a plus size section).  She insisted and in we went.  Not only did the clothes fit, but I did not have to buy the largest size!  This was my first official venture into a store that carries NO plus size clothes...and it was exciting!  Tried on some Christmas party dresses at sears that I loved, but am going to hold off on buying anything like that until I go on my cross-border shopping trip in October.

Weighed in this morning and was down 1lb.  I'm pleased with that.  Things have been slowing down with the weightloss, but I am still averaging 1.5 lbs/week over the past 10 1/2 months, which is considered a very healthy average.  I would love to hit my goal by Christmas (or before!), but I don't want to rush things and then "relapse" ;-)

Heading out for another long walk with Cheryl tonight - different route planned than last Saturday...a bit shorter than our 8K we did!

Off to the races!

It's like riding a bike...you never forget

This phrase is actually in reference to riding a bike...only I did forget.  At least how to stop.  This is the result.  I did OK on the bike itself for about 10 seconds and then I decided I should stop before I rounded the corner on D&B's street and down the steep hill for the St. Marg. Bay Road into oncoming traffic...I applied the breaks and then realized I then needed to put my feet back on the ground, only to remember (too late) that my feet don't REACH the ground!  I was on D's bike and he's a bit taller than me (and his legs are WAY longer!) and therefore his bike is a bit too big for me...thankfully (or not...) I was near a tree, so when I applied the breaks and came to a dead stop on two wheels I fell to the right into the poor tree.  In a way, it's a good thing the tree was there, otherwise I would have fallen into my own car, which was on the other side of the tree...I would have been REALLY upset had I scratched my car!  The good news is, the scratch, while long, is fairly minor.  It didn't hurt as much as my hand that I stabbed with a fork on Saturday :-)

Well, I have not given up on bike riding - I need to find someone closer to my height so I can try again to see if a bike is something I would ever want to invest in...stay tuned.

Oh, I finally made that Pork stew - ended up making it in the oven, but it was delish!

Plateau :-(

Pin It So I stayed the same this week.  I admit I am disappointed, but at the same time I can't say I'm truly surprised.  I exercised once this week - nobody to blame but myself.  I ate WAY too many zero point foods which sounds like a silly reason, but when you keep eating zero point foods (veggies and such) in large quantities, eventually they SHOULD add up to count as points...the way the points work is calories+fat+fibre=points - fibre brings the points down, so veggies for the most part end up being zero...however...there is a cap of 4gm fibre per serving, so when having say two servings of green beans you double the calories, but the fibre maxes out at 4, so two cups would be 0.5pts...BUT in the online system if I had say one cup of green and one cup of yellow...still zero.  I know I'm only fooling myself by not counting something for these veggies...and I am not going to cut DOWN on veggies, but I think this week I need to make a concerted effort to eat something for lunch/dinner other than salads.  What I did this week was filled up on veggies/salads and surrounded those foods with bad things (chocolate!) because I "had points leftover" and I could fit them in...not smart.  I should be eating more whole grains, protein, etc.  I'm also bloated this week, but that's no excuse either!

Ok, there's my rant.  I'm off to have brunch (was gonna have a salad, but have pre-planned for bacon and eggs!) with Naomi, who I have not seen in ages.  Tomorrow is our annual outdoor service for church (picnic, BBQ), so I have to pick up stuff to bring to that.  Should be a fun weekend!

Your long lost friend

Pin It I know it's been a long since I have posted here - other than being away, I really have no excuses.  My aim is to get back into posting on a regular basis.  While I was away I did a hand-written blog (in the olden days they called it a journal or a diary ;-) and am, quite frankly, too lazy to re-type all the entries here, so I will just say that it was a good trip, but I am glad to be home!

I am back on WW and was thrilled to discover on Saturday morning that I had lost 6.8lbs since before I went to SE Asia!!  My total loss now is 69.6...so close to the 70lb mark I can taste it (but how many points would it be??) :-)  Tonight was my frist day back at water aerobics and I'm glad I went.  The hardest part really IS getting myself out the door and into the car (yes, I should walk there, but they were forecasting rain and thunderstorms!).  I have also begun learning to run with my training (I run, she stands beside the treadmill).  I am planning (hoping/praying) to run part of the CIBC Run for the Cure on Sunday, October 3rd in support of Breast Cancer Research.  I have walked it a few years, but this year I want to run at least part of it (what I call a run is likely a slow jog to anyone serious about running!)  Anyone wanting to sponsor me (yes, I'm shameless when it comes to fundraising for this very worthy cause!!!!) can click HERE to do so online, or contact me for other methods of donating.

Well, I'm off to get my crockpot meal ready to turn on before work tomorrow.  I'm making one of Shondi's recipes - Cuban Style Pork and Sweet Potato Slow Cooker Stew (she didn't make it up, it's from the WW site, but she has tried it!)

Happy Tuesday everyone!!
